ENTRY CRITERIA FOR WORLD ROGAINING CHAMPIONSHIP 2019
The following guidelines shall apply for 16th WRC to be held in 2019.
Team size is restricted to 2 or 3 people. The number of entries for 16th WRC is limited to 1,000 competitors.
- A minimum of 20% of all available places will be for non-Pre-Qualifying Entrants. There will be two levels of Pre-Qualifying Entrants:
- Automatic Pre-Qualifying Entrants
- Preferred Status Pre-Qualifying Entrants
- An additional 10% of all available places will be reserved for wildcard entrants
The criteria for each of these is described below. Applications for entry will be taken via an online entry form. Registrations will be accepted and confirmed in the three Phases defined later in this document.
ENTRY CRITERIA
Pre-Qualifying-Entrants
These criteria are used to determine priority entry during Phase 1.
Note that notwithstanding anything that follows, the total number of teams that achieve pre-qualification (automatic and preferred status combined) in any age/gender category from any prequalification event shall not exceed 50% (rounded up to the nearest whole number) of the total number of teams completing that age/gender category at that event. Any WRC 2017 pre-qualification event must be conducted after 1st January 2016.
Automatic Pre-Qualifying-Entrants
Teams meeting the criteria set out in clauses 1.1 through 1.4 below shall be deemed Automatic Pre-Qualifying Entrants
Teams that include at least one past WRC open category champion (MO, WO, and XO) in their team provided that individual has competed in at least one 24-hour rogaine in the two years immediately preceding the opening of entries and has competed in at least one of the two most recent World Rogaining Champioship.
Teams that include at least one person from a team filling the nominated places in any of the 15 age/gender categories in the following qualifying events:
- The first 6 places in the two World Rogaining Championships immediately preceding the opening of entries;
- The first 3 places in the two European Rogaining Championships immediately preceding the opening of entries;
- The first 2 places in the two North American Rogaining Championships immediately preceding the opening of entries;
- The first 2 places in the two Australasian Rogaining Championships immediately preceding the opening of entries;
- Teams that include at least one person from a team that filled one of the top 2 places in an open category (MO, WO and XO) in a Qualifying National Rogaining Championship.
- Teams that include at least one person who is an IRF Councilor or Observer as at the date of opening of entries.
Preferred Status Pre-Qualifying-Entrants
Teams meeting the criteria set out in clauses 2.1 through 2.3 below shall be deemed Preferred Status Pre-Qualifying Entrants
- Teams that include at least one person from a team filling places 7th through 10th in any age/gender category in the two World Rogaining Championships immediately preceding the opening of entries subject to the number of teams that achieve pre-qualification (automatic and preferred status combined) through this means not exceeding 30% of the total number of teams completing that age/gender category at that event.
- Teams that include at least one person from a team filling places 4th or 5th in any age/gender category in the two European Rogaining Championships immediately preceding the opening of entries subject to the number of teams that achieve pre-qualification (automatic and preferred status combined) through this means not exceeding 30% of the total number of teams completing that age/gender category at that
- Teams that include at least one person from a team filling 3rd place in any age/gender category in the following qualifying events:
- The two North American Rogaining Championships immediately preceding the opening of entries
- The two Australasian Rogaining Championships immediately preceding the opening of entrie.
- Teams that are eligible for any Ultra-Veterans
- Teams that are eligible for any Youth
Under-representation Criteria
These criteria are used to determine entry during Phase 2.
Teams from non- (or under-represented) rogaining countries, up to a total of 6 competitors per country (inclusive of current registrations).
Non-Pre-Qualifying-Entrants Category
- A minimum of 20% of competitor (i.e. not team) places will be reserved for people who do not meet the Pre-Qualifying Entrant criteria and these places will be allocated during Phase 2. At least one member of any team registering in this Non-Pre-Qualifying Entrant category must have competed in at least one 24-hour rogaine in the two years immediately preceding the opening of entries.
- Each country that has full membership of the IRF as at the date of opening of entries shall be provided by the IRF with a number of wildcards from the 10% of competitor (i.e. not team) places reserved for wildcards for allocation to individuals at the discretion of the national association. The IRF recommends that at least half should be allocated to individuals who are playing a major role in the development of the sport and/or the organisation of rogaines in that country.
- The IRF Executive will also allocate a number of wildcards from the 10% of reserved competitor (i.e. not team) wildcard places to individuals originating from countries not included in clause 2 (i.e. not full members of the IRF). This allocation will be done in consultation with the WRC Organizers. The allocation will be partly to individuals who are playing a major role in the development of the sport and/or the organisation of rogaines in that country, and partly to individuals whose competitive performance warrants entry.
ENTRY PROCES AND PHASES
Prior to Registration opening, if required, a list of Pre-qualifying entrants will be published on the WRC event website.
As applications for entry are dealt with as set out below they are loaded into the List of Entrants web page.
Entry limit is 1000 participants.
Phase One: 27th October 2018 – 10th November 2018
- All Pre-Qualifying Entrants wishing to take advantage of their Pre-Qualifying Entrant status MUST register during this period. They can sign up first with the same name shown in pre-qualified list. The teams can pay the total fee in the last step or wait for the WRC organisers’ invitation by email. When they receive the email, they will have two weeks for the payment.
- The Non Pre-Qualifying Entrants are able to register during this period but they will be on a waiting list until Phase three starts and organiser will invite them by email.
Phase Two: 11th November 2018 – 31st December 2018
- Pre-Qualifying-Entrants (including Preferred Status) can enter during this Phase 2.
- The Non Pre-Qualifying Entrants are able to register during this period but they will be on a waiting list until Phase three starts and organiser will invite them by email.
Phase Three: 1st January 2019 – 15th July 2019
- Registration continues. All teams can enter during this period. Any team can sign up and fill the entry form, the procedure finishes in a credit card website where the teams must pay the total amount. Organisation reserves a number of wildcards in order to implement the WRC entry criteria rules. Wildcard places not allocated after to start late entry fee will be released into the general pool. When entry process arrives to 900 participants, the new entries will be in a waiting list since the last wildcards will be released.
